Making Connections is the Child and Youth Care Workers Association of
Manitoba's third National.

In 1986,
Creating a Balance was the first National. It featured a 1000 cranes in
origami, a symbol of peace created by young people.

In 1996,
Committed to the Challenge was notable for an October surprise
delivered in the form of an October blizzard that stranded many registrants from
away in the city for another day.

Nationals in Winnipeg are known for their warmth and friendliness. Thank you to
everyone for extending this reputation to a successful third national!
Following Lorraine E. Fox's twenty one characteristics of a child and youth care worker,
the conference was brought to a close. The conference committee was thanked and
folks set out on the journey home. Some were there already having left early enough in
the day to text their arrivals by this point. The complements for the conference were
several with most enjoying themselves and all the connecting they had done. The
group from Newfoundland set out for the airport in style in a stretch limo. About time I
should think. Many made plans to meet again in the Rocky Mountains for Inspiring
Resilience - click on the logo to visit the conference web site.
